THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE
HOUGHTON COUNTY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MEASURES.

THIS IS AN EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT MESSAGE FOR RESIDENTS ALONG THE
STURGEON RIVER AT CHASSELL. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RIVER
FORECAST CENTER IS CALLING FOR THE STURGEON RIVER TO REACH FLOOD
STAGE WITHIN THE NEXT 48 HOURS. THE HOUGHTON COUNTY OFFICE OF
EMERGENCY MEASURES IS ASKING RESIDENTS TO SEEK HOUSING AWAY FROM THE
STURGEON RIVER NOW BEFORE THE RIVER REACHES FLOOD STAGE. STAYING ON
THE RIVER NEEDLESSLY POSES RISKS FOR EMERGENCY RESPONDERS IN THE
EVENT YOU REQUEST HELP AFTER THE RIVER REACHES AND EXCEEDS FLOOD
STAGE.
