...CIVIL EMERGENCY MESSAGE...

THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE HOUGHTON
AND KEWEENAW COUNTY EMERGENCY COORDINATOR...IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE
KEWEENAW AND HOUGHTON COUNTY ROAD COMMISSION...AND THE HOUGHTON AND
KEWEENAW COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES.

MOTORISTS ARE BEING ADVISED TO DRIVE WITH EXTREME
CAUTION...ESPECIALLY ALONG M-26 BETWEEN EAGLE RIVER AND COPPER
HARBOR...AND ALONG GAY-LAC LA BELLE ROAD.

THE KEWEENAW COUNTY ROAD ENGINEER HAS RECEIVED REPORTS OF STANDING
WATER ALONG PORTIONS OF THOSE ROADS WHERE FLOODING HAS NEVER BEEN
PREVIOUSLY REPORTED.

ANY LOW-LYING SECTION OF ROAD IN THESE AREAS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO
COLLECT WATER. DRIVING TOO FAST THROUGH THESE POOLS OF WATER CAN
EASILY RESULT IN A LOSS OF CONTROL OF YOUR VEHICLE
