At this point, everything has or soon will clearly go down the toilet in the central Plains tomorrow because of the snowstorm. Heavy snow is already falling in Wichita and Salina, Kansas, and freezing rain is falling over central Arkansas, where there is an Ice Storm Warning in effect. Obviously, if you have plans to be on I-35 between OKC and Minneapolis, for example, you should put them off until at least Friday or Saturday.
On the warm side of the system, storms were expected to form in north Texas today and tonight. At this point, they haven't, and at this point, storms are struggling to form in west Texas. It's just plain not warm enough to favor the formation of severe storms from the looks of it. It's 38 in Lubbock, 44 in Abilene, and 42 in Fort Worth. The overnight forecast for Fort Worth says 70 percent chance of thunderstorms, with temperatures rising overnight. Forecast for Abilene calls for a 90 percent chance of storms with a low of 47.
