The latest winter storm continues to take shape, and the warning map now consists of new Blizzard and Winter Storm Warnings.
Blizzard Warnings for: southeast North Dakota, western Minnesota, eastern and central South Dakota, western Nebraska, extreme northwest Kansas, and northeast Colorado. This includes the cities of Scottsbluff, North Platte, Pierre, Sioux Falls, Brookings, Aberdeen, Fargo, Moorhead, Detroit Lakes, and Marshall.
Winter Storm Warnings for central and eastern Minnesota, northwest Wisconsin, southwest South Dakota, eastern and central Wyoming, western Colorado, and eastern Utah. This includes the cities of Salt Lake City, Grand Junction, Aspen, Casper, Rapid City, Bemidji, International Falls, Duluth, St. Cloud, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Willmar, Superior, and Rice Lake.
The reason there are still watches in effect in northeast North Dakota and northwest Minnesota, around and north of Grand Forks and Crookston, is because there is still some uncertainty into how much snow will fall. If you happen to be looking at maps for the Grand Forks WFO site, you'll notice that in the Devils Lake area, there's no sort of watch or warning at all, and that will likely stay that way because areas around Devils Lake, Bismarck, and Minot are expecting little to no snow.
Hope you have snack food, blankets, and snow blowers ready. It is likely that countless roads will be closed, especially in rural areas where there are few trees, where the wind will really whip the snow around.
