New Storm System
Blizzard Warnings (orange) are up from the Texas panhandle up to northeast Colorado. Winter Storm Watches and Warnings (blue and pink) are up elsewhere surrounding that up to about Peoria, Illinois.

This snowstorm is definitely going to be worse than the one last week in some areas, so if you aren't ready to be hunkered down until at least late Monday, then you are almost out of time to go get emergency supplies.
On the warm side of the system, a slight risk of severe weather has been indicated by the SPC for today through Tuesday. The probabilities for today seem to suggest that hail will be the main risk today in north Texas, and the tornado threat looks very low.
Tomorrow's threat looks like it could be more potent, and as mentioned yesterday, it will cause problems mostly in the Gulf Coast states.
Tuesday's threat will be for areas along the east coast in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

Social Media, The Snow, and The Storms
I do put out warnings whenever I can (meaning when I'm awake and at my computer or phone) on Twitter. If you want to get these warnings, follow @Joshsoma on Twitter.
As for the snow, yet another potent snowstorm is going to produce heavy snow in many of the same areas that got kicked by the snowstorm last week on Sunday and Monday. Some sort of watch or advisory is out for parts of Utah, Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri.
Just like with the last storm, there will be a warm side that will present a chance for some severe thunderstorms. A slight risk has been issued by the SPC for areas along the Gulf Coast states, including New Orleans, Hattiesburg, Mobile, Auburn, and Tallahassee.

Today
The good news is that there did not appear to be much in terms of severe weather last night, or at least based on SPC reports there wasn't any. But for today, the snowstorm continues, with up to 2 feet of snow possible in parts of Nebraska and Kansas. A slight risk remains in place today for northeast Texas, Louisiana and south Mississippi.
Overall Risk
Tornado Risk
Hail Risk
Straight Line Wind Risk
Keep in mind, that this was very well forecasted, as the first possibility for severe weather today was mentioned in SPC convective outlooks last weekend. Tomorrow, the slight risk is in place over south Alabama.

This Snowstorm
At this point, everything has or soon will clearly go down the toilet in the central Plains tomorrow because of the snowstorm. Heavy snow is already falling in Wichita and Salina, Kansas, and freezing rain is falling over central Arkansas, where there is an Ice Storm Warning in effect. Obviously, if you have plans to be on I-35 between OKC and Minneapolis, for example, you should put them off until at least Friday or Saturday.
On the warm side of the system, storms were expected to form in north Texas today and tonight. At this point, they haven't, and at this point, storms are struggling to form in west Texas. It's just plain not warm enough to favor the formation of severe storms from the looks of it. It's 38 in Lubbock, 44 in Abilene, and 42 in Fort Worth. The overnight forecast for Fort Worth says 70 percent chance of thunderstorms, with temperatures rising overnight. Forecast for Abilene calls for a 90 percent chance of storms with a low of 47.

Storms Today and Tomorrow
The next major winter storm will move into the Plains later today. Up to 2 feet of snow is possible in some areas, and massive power outages are expected due to freezing rain in northern Arkansas, where the dark purple shows an Ice Storm Warning.
Meanwhile in the warm sector of the system, a slight risk of severe weather is possible in north Texas. Large hail appears to be the main threat. Tomorrow, the storms will move east, and a slight risk is in place for tomorrow.

No Severe Weather Today, But More Coming Up
No severe weather is expected today, but there are more severe thunderstorms expected tomorrow and Thursday. Below is tomorrow's convective outlook, and there is a slight risk for tomorrow.
Below here is Thursday's probability. Thursday has been highlighted as the day for severe weather since the weekend, and it would not be surprising if the SPC upgrades Thursday's risk to moderate.
Conditions should be monitored carefully tomorrow in north Texas, including around Dallas, Fort Worth, Frisco, Waco, and Abilene. On Thursday, we'll be watching areas such as New Orleans, Hattiesburg, Jackson, and Shreveport.

A Winter Weather Alert Filled Map
The purple areas scattered across the country are Winter Weather Advisories. Blizzard Warnings remain in effect in central Minnesota from the light snow and strong wind event that occurred today. The dark blue shows where Winter Storm Watches are in effect for the next snowstorm on Thursday (which the Weather Channel, in a stroke of pure genius, has named "Winter Storm Q". Seriously. They're calling it "Q".) and the other colors on the map show various fire, wind, and flood warnings.
Update
Severe thunderstorms are pushing across western Arkansas at the moment. Two Tornado Warnings, one of them is moving toward El Dorado. I'm wondering if the SPC will extend the Severe Thunderstorm Watch, because the storms are moving very close to the edge of the watch box as they approach Little Rock.
Severe Thunderstorm Watch #36
The watch includes Fort Smith, Fayetteville, Little Rock, Shreveport, and Tyler.

Tornado Update
Good news is that there are no reports of fatalities in the Hattiesburg area, and there are no Tornado Warnings anymore. The problem is now turning to flooding. These storms, tornadic or not, have been pouring very heavy rain over Alabama and Mississippi, and the threat remains for heavy rain and flooding for several days. Here's video of the tornado.
Tornado Watch #34
This is for many areas that have been beaten up so bad today, including areas south of I-20, including Hattiesburg and Baton Rouge.

Tornado apparently did track across the city of Hattiesburg. Reports of severely damaged or destroyed houses are coming in. This is a picture of the tornado courtesy of James Spann's (@spann) Twitter page.

Edit: Additionally, there is destruction all over Hattiesburg. DO NOT TRY AND GO INTO HATTIESBURG, OR ANY OTHER PLACE IMPACTED BY TORNADOES TODAY.

The snowstorm going on in the northern plains is causing the city of Fargo to slowly begin shutting down, bit by bit. I-29 is closed from Fargo southward to Watertown. The malls in both Fargo and Moorhead are shut down. US10 between Fargo and Detroit Lakes is open but is very difficult to drive on. I-94 is still open in the metro, but everyone in Fargo just needs to be shut down.

Update
The squall line in central Mississippi will move into the eastern part of the state and into west Alabama here shortly. So far, there have been very few Tornado Warnings, and the SPC reports indicate that there have not been any reported touchdowns.
Meanwhile, the snowstorm up north continues to wreak havoc. I-90 is closed from Wall, SD to Chamberlain, SD. I-29 is closed from Watertown, SD, to the Dakotas border. No traffic is advised in the southeastern part of North Dakota, and no travel is advised in the west central part of Minnesota.

Tornado Watch #32 includes Baton Rouge and Jackson. The interesting thing from looking at the SPC information for the presumed risks within this watch are all listed as "moderate". That is, the risk of tornadoes, EF2+ tornadoes, severe wind, 65kt+ wind, severe hail, and 2"+ diameter hail.
Severe Weather
Severe Thunderstorm Watch includes Shreveport and Texarkana. Tornado Watch includes Monroe and Lufkin. This will push east and further watches will likely be required.

Snowstorm on Sunday
The latest winter storm continues to take shape, and the warning map now consists of new Blizzard and Winter Storm Warnings.
Blizzard Warnings for: southeast North Dakota, western Minnesota, eastern and central South Dakota, western Nebraska, extreme northwest Kansas, and northeast Colorado. This includes the cities of Scottsbluff, North Platte, Pierre, Sioux Falls, Brookings, Aberdeen, Fargo, Moorhead, Detroit Lakes, and Marshall.
Winter Storm Warnings for central and eastern Minnesota, northwest Wisconsin, southwest South Dakota, eastern and central Wyoming, western Colorado, and eastern Utah. This includes the cities of Salt Lake City, Grand Junction, Aspen, Casper, Rapid City, Bemidji, International Falls, Duluth, St. Cloud, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Willmar, Superior, and Rice Lake.
The reason there are still watches in effect in northeast North Dakota and northwest Minnesota, around and north of Grand Forks and Crookston, is because there is still some uncertainty into how much snow will fall. If you happen to be looking at maps for the Grand Forks WFO site, you'll notice that in the Devils Lake area, there's no sort of watch or warning at all, and that will likely stay that way because areas around Devils Lake, Bismarck, and Minot are expecting little to no snow.
Hope you have snack food, blankets, and snow blowers ready. It is likely that countless roads will be closed, especially in rural areas where there are few trees, where the wind will really whip the snow around.
